Join the Citizens Guard
The re-created Citizens Guard is a diverse collection of like minded living historians that strive to depict the brave men of the original militia and infantry company as accurately as possible. We have valid impressions incorporating eastern federal, western federal, civilian, militia, and even confederate impressions at times by our membership. The Citizens Guard participates in living histories on the original battlefields, memorial services, preservation marches, immersion events, and our Adopt a Site Preservation Project with the Gettysburg National Military Park. We have been complimented several times by our comrade, author and historian Lance Herdegen on how well we represent the original men of the Citizens Guard, the Second Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry, and the Iron Brigade of the West by adherence to our standards, our attention to drill & military deportment, ongoing research and knowledge transfer, and purchasing uniform and equipage that replicates the original articles to the best of our ability.
